Suddenly she wondered if Adam followed her home. She hurriedly got out all of the garlic she had and decorated her apartment with it, then she got out the small amount of crosses she owned and she put them on the doors and took one to her bedroom with her. She had no idea if this would actually work but it felt better then doing nothing at all.

  Chapter7

Hannah went to work the next day feeling exhausted since she’d been up all night afraid a vampire would attack her. She drowsily drove to work and then parked herself in her roller chair at the secretaries desk. She had made sure to be early after all of the other mishaps from the week before. She didn’t want to be fired, she really liked her job or rather she liked the money her job paid. The people she worked with were definitely not pleasant. Now that she was with Cas she was even happier about everything that was going on in her life despite fearing for her life because of Adam. Why was he so intent on killing her anyway?

Hannah began to get ready for her boss to come in and slowly people from the office filtered in to their own desks. At nine am Ian came into the office and smiled at her.

“How are we today Hannah?” he asked with a huge smile.

“I’m great, sir! And yourself?” she asked with a smile to match his own.

He raised his eyebrows in astonishment.

“That’s great to hear! How was your weekend?” he asked.

“It was great, sir. I had a date.” She said with glee.

There was a pause in the office as everyone turned to stare at her. Well at least that’s what it felt like. Since she sat in the front of the room everyone could usually hear her and Ian’s conversation. Since people were still coming in to go to work it wasn’t everyone from the office, well just their floor, but it was a majority of the people. She could hear people mumbling behind her and she knew they were talking about her. She tried to ignore the murmuring behind her, but she knew her news was going to cause a stir in the office. She just hoped they didn’t think she was making it up.

“A date you say? How was it?” he asked smiling down at her.

She smiled back glad that Ian wasn’t as vicious as his underlings. That was one of the reasons she liked her job so much was because he was such a great guy. Plus she got really good benefits as well.

“It was…really nice.” She said blushing as she thought of Cas.

“Where’d he take you?” one of her co-workers asked. She looked at him surprised, they had never talked outside of her telling him Ian wanting to discuss something with him. She didn’t even realize he knew her name or that she even existed outside of sitting at the desk.

“A small restaurant it was really nice.” She said quietly knowing more and more people were listening is especially as more and more people came in. The people who had been in the office had to fill everyone else in that the Hannah had gotten a date. For the first time in several years. It was big news apparently.

“Well I’m glad to hear it, Hannah. You deserve someone nice.” Ian said with a final smile. She grinned back and he held out his hand so he could get the messages along with his schedule for the day.

“There aren’t going to be any mishaps like last week, correct?” he asked as he looked through his schedule and messages.

“No, sir. This week is a new week and I will be extra on top of everything just to make up for it. I really am sorry about last week sir.” Hannah said ducking her head in guilt about how unprofessional and stupid she had acted.

“It’s alright, it happens to the best of us. Some days and weeks we are just off.” He said with a chuckle.

She smiled shyly at him and watched him go into his office. Then she turned back to her desk and began to work. She didn’t get very far, however because as soon as she began to work there was a snooty voice in front of her demanding to know answers. Hannah looked up slowly and wasn’t surprised to see Wendy and Wendy standing in front of her desk.

“You had a date this weekend?” Wendy asked.

“Who was the poor soul that said he’d go out with you?” The other Wendy asked.

“Was he paid?” Wendy added on glaring down at Hannah.

Wendy copied her friend’s glare and Hannah was left to sit there in her roller chair feeling very uncomfortable. She glanced behind her at Ian in his glass office and saw he was on the phone. She wished he was still out there. If he was these two bitches wouldn’t be asking or saying these things to her.

“Did you need something?” Hannah demanded to know annoyed with Wendy and Wendi and their unimportant questions.

“So who’s the guy?” Wendy demanded to know.

“Was he as ugly as you were?” Wendy asked earning a snicker from Wendy.

“I’m trying to work here.” Hannah said quietly.

“Are you going to mess up like last week? You messed up so bad I’m surprised you are still here.” Wendy said.

Hannah looked down in shame knowing she had messed up really bad last week.

“So who is he?” Wendy asked again.

“You don’t know him.” Hannah said exasperated.

“Surprise. Surprise.” Wendy said her voice dripping her sarcasm. She cocked her head and studied Hannah who was trying to do her job.

“So like, what’d he look like?” Wendy asked.

“Don’t you have work to do?” Hannah asked staring up at them.

They both rolled their eyes in unison.

“You know the whole office is talking about you. You and your little date. The news spread like wild fire. I’m sure that’s the first gossip that’s ever been about you.” Wendy said viciously.

“The entire office knows you went on a date. It’s your first one in like, forever, right?” She said with a cackle.

“I—“ Hannah began to say but was cut off as Michelle came bounding up to the desk.

“Shoo bitches. Shoo.” Michelle said making a waving motion.

“Screw you Lesbo.” Wendy said glaring.

“Careful. I’ll get you two asses fired for first harassing my friend and second for a slur. Now shoo.” Michelle said making the motion again.

Hannah and Michelle watched Wendy and Wendy leave angrily.

“Bitches.” Michelle mumbled before turning to Hannah.

“A date, huh? Why didn’t you tell me! That’s great!” Michelle gushed.

Hannah smiled tentatively Wendy and Wendi’s words still ringing in her brain.

“So how’d it go? What’d he look like?” Michelle begged to know.

Hannah shrugged, “He was…he’s cute. Really cute. I like him a lot.” Hannah said blushing.

Michelle smiled. “That’s good! I’m happy for you.” Michelle said. Then paused. “They were right you know, you are the talk of the building.” Michelle said with a frown.

“People can be vicious.” Hannah mumbled.

Michelle gave her a sympathetic smile. “How about we go out for lunch today you can tell me all about him and maybe we can even drink some wine, what do you say?”

Hannah nodded knowing she needed something to look forward today since it didn’t seem like it was going to be any better than last week.

“Yes, please.” Hannah said with a smile.

“Great.” Michelle said reaching over to pat her arm and then went back over to her desk. Hannah watched her for a minute before going back to work, but she still felt like people were watching her and she knew they were, after all she was the talk of the office. Her and her date.

Lunch time for Hannah couldn’t come soon enough. She had gotten a lot of stares throughout the morning and she hoped by afternoon people wouldn’t look so much. Fat chance though, no one seemed to want to work today, instead they wanted to gossip and since no one was as pathetic as Hannah in the office everyone gossiped about her.

“Let’s go to Lola’s I’m craving a good burger.” Michelle said patting her belly.

Hannah nodded and they walked across the busy intersection to the bar and restaurant across from their offic
e. Both Hannah and Michelle loved the restaurant since it served great burgers and shrimp tacos. Hannah thought they were the best in town.

“Wanna just sit at the bar?” Hannah asked nodding to two vacant spots at the counter top.

“Yeah seems like the best option.” Michelle said with a shrug.

The two women squeezed themselves onto the bar stools and waited for the bartender to come take their orders. They both got wine, burgers, and an appetizer to split.

“I’m ready whenever you are.” Michelle said with a smile turning to her friend.

Hannah blushed and smiled, “He’s really cute.” She said bashfully.

“You said that already. What’d he look like? Did you sleep with him? Where’d he take you? How’d you guys meet?” Michelle demanded to know.

Hannah laughed, “Slow down! Slow down! One question at a time!” Hannah said gleefully.

“Fine! Fine! But seriously, did you sleep with him?” Michelle asked wiggling her eyebrows in a suggestive manner.

  Hannah blushed and looked away.

“Oh! Oh! You dirty filthy dog!” Michelle paused to let out a loud laugh. “So how was it?” she asked nudging her friend.

  “Michelle!” Hannah exclaimed.

  “Hannah!” Michelle copied her tone.

“How was it?” Michelle asked again.

Hannah blushed again, “It was great. Amazing. Best sex of my life.” Hannah whispered.

Michelle giggled like a little school girl. “Did he have a big…you know?” Michelle asked gesturing down south.

  “Michelle!” Hannah said exasperated.

Michelle laughed,” What? I’m asking! Please tell me!” Michelle whined. “I have no action in my life I must live vicariously through yours.”

  Hannah laughed, “you’re a lesbian!”

“So! I can still listen to straight people’s sex lives! And still live vicariously through them! Sex is sex.” Michelle said with a shrug and sipped her wine.

Hannah rolled her eyes, “Yes it was big and he was great.” She said drinking her own wine.

“So where’d he take you?” Michelle asked as their giggles died down.

“A small restaurant. It was intimate and nice. I had a lot of fun. He’s such a great guy! And we have so much in common! It’s amazing.” Hannah said dreamily.

Michelle nodded thinking over what she had just said. “So what’s the catch?” Michelle asked after a lengthy pause of her thinking and Hannah daydreaming about Cas’s cock.

“What?” Hannah asked snapping out of her daydreams.

  “What’s the catch?” Michelle asked.

Hannah opened her mouth but then she thought about the question and wondered how she should answer it.

“Well he’s a doctor.” Hannah said delicately.

Michelle nodded sympathetically. “Yeah that is a drag. I mean it’s nice to date a doctor but all of them are workaholics. It’s intense work.” Michelle said thinking out loud.

“You think he’s a workaholic?” Hannah asked with a frown.

“I don’t know. He could be. You know him better then me.” Michelle said shrugging.

“I guess…” Hannah said the frown still on her face.

“So how’d you guys meet? In the emergency room? Was it totally Grey’s Anatomy?” Michelle asked smiling hopefully.

“No. It was…I was leaving the bar and got mugged. He saved me.” Hannah said revising the story so she didn’t sound like a lunatic.

“Really? That’s so romantic!” Michelle gushed.

“Yeah it was pretty great. I had lost some blood and since he’s a doctor he took me back to his place and fixed me up.” Hannah said leaving out the part that she was passed out.

“Oh man! Even more romantic! And very Grey’s Anatomy.” Michelle said.

Hannah laughed as they drank more of their wine and their food finally came.

“So are you going to see him again?” Michelle asked as they chowed down on their burgers and appetizer.

“I hope so. Well we have a date for next weekend, but I really wanna see him before.” Hannah said chewing her food.

“Well you could call him for some booty time.” Michelle said with a wicked smile.

Hannah laughed, “Don’t tempt me. He’s so gorgeous I just might.” She said.

They giggled together and continued to eat their meal. Eventually they had to get back to the office and back to work. When Hannah and Michelle entered the office the atmosphere had changed tremendously. Instead of everyone trying to slyly stare at her everyone was out rightly staring at her.

“Why is everyone looking at me? Do I have ketchup on my face?” Hannah asked awkwardly.

Michelle glanced at her and shook her head. “No.”

“Then why—“ Hannah began as they got off the elevator and then stopped talking when she saw Cas sitting at her desk waiting for her.

“Damn, Hannah who’s that?” Michelle asked letting out a low whistle when her eyes laid themselves upon Cas.

“Oh my. That’s my date.” Hannah murmured suddenly understanding the stares and everything.

“Shit, Hannah he is hot as fuck. Not cute. Hot.” Michelle said staring at him.

“Again. You are a lesbian.” Hannah said as they walked towards her desk. Cas smiled at her and got up before walking around her desk and coming to stand in front of them.

  “Hey.” He said smiling.

“Hi.” Hannah said knowing again, just like that morning that everyone was listening and staring at them. She was once again going to be the talk of the office.

“You look great. I hope you don’t mind the guard let me in and they told me I could wait at your desk. Were you at lunch?” Cas asked smiling at her.

“Yeah we were at Lola’s.” Michelle said smiling at him. Cas looked away from Hannah and to Michelle.

“Hi I’m Cas.” Cas said holding his hand out to shake hers.

“Michelle.” Michelle said smiling at him.

“Michelle is my friend and this is where I work.” Hannah said awkwardly.

Cas chuckled and looked around. “It’s nice. I came by to take you to lunch, but I guess I missed it. Is it OK if we talk though? Do you still have time left on your break?” he asked.

Hannah looked down at her watch and then over to Ian who was watching them. He waved his hands at her as if to say ‘go’ and she nodded her head to Cas.

“Yeah, I’m free for a bit.” She said.

“Do you want to go outside and talk?” Cas asked.

  Hannah nodded.

Michelle smiled at them. “Well it was nice to meet you Cas I hope I see you again.” Michelle said before she went back to her seat and went to work.

Cas smiled and led Hannah back over to the elevators so they could go down. They waited in silence and then got in when Cas finally broke the silence.

“Do your co-workers usually watch you so closely?” Cas asked kind of freaked out by the behavior of her co-workers.

“Only when I have a handsome guy waiting for me I guess.” Hannah said shaking her head at her co-workers antics.

“I had two very trampy looking women come up to your desk and hound me. Is that normal?” Cas asked confused.

“Oh that will be Wendy and Wendy. They are two icky woman I wish you’d never have met.” Hannah said shaking her head but quietly pleased he called them trampy.

“They can be vicious.” Hannah added annoyed that they had harassed Cas.

“They seem it. I didn’t like them, their scent was awful.” Cas said as the elevator doors opened. “Yeah I don’t like them either.” Hannah admitted.

They both stepped into the lobby and then walked the few steps towards the front doors. Hannah continued to feel everyone’s eyes on her. She wished that wasn’t the case. She didn’t want Cas to be freaked out about where she worked. On the other hand everyone now knew she wasn’t making up her date.

“So how are you?” Hannah asked as they reached the outdoors.

Cas shrugged and took her hand before leading her away from prying eyes. He reached down to kiss her gently on the lips and then pulled away with a smile in his eyes.

“I really wanted to do that.” Cas said looking at her sheepishly.

“I like it when you do that.” Hannah said grinning up at him.

Cas looked into her eyes. He felt pulled in by the love and compassion he saw there. He wasn’t into material things such as looks, he wanted a woman who had a great personality and would keep him company. He really liked Hannah and how she made him feel. She was the first real woman he’d met in probably his whole life. She was perfect for him.

“I got your message.” Cas said and touched her cheek soothingly.

  “Are you OK?” he added.

Hannah shrugged and looked away trying to act brave. “I’m not going to lie and tell you I wasn’t afraid. I was scared as shit…” Hannah said trailing off.

“I’m sorry I didn’t come over that night. I had to work. Doctor stuff.” He said caressing her face.

  She nodded.

“I was on call that night, remember.” He added.

  She nodded again.

“I’m just glad you’re OK” He said kissing her again on the lips. She relaxed into his soft moist lips and let the kiss flow through her body warming her all the way to the tips of her toes.

“I was thinking I could teach you some things.” He said once they’d broken the kiss and regained their breath.

  “Like what?” Hannah asked.

“I can teach you how to defend yourself.” Cas said smiling down at her.

Hannah grinned, “I was thinking the same thing.” She admitted.

“Great minds think alike I guess.” Cas said going down for another kiss.

She giggled and they made out for a few minutes before she had to go back into the building.

“Come over tonight. We’ll get down and dirty.” Cas said before smacking her ass and sending her back into the building so she could work. She glowed the rest of the day. Nothing anyone said to her could make the smile dissolve from her face. She finally felt good about what was to come.
